Wedding Flower Photos - What You Should Know About Flower Arrangements for Wedding Photos
When planning your wedding you probably won’t think to plan for flower arrangements for wedding photos. This is typically an afterthought that is often suggested by the photographer, who happens to have some tacky silk arrangements he can “throw in” for a small rental fee. Don’t let this happen to your photos.
Don’t Forget To Plan for Flower Arrangements for Wedding Photos
To avoid having to use the dusty, overused wedding flower arrangements that the photographer has shoved in a closet, plan for your wedding photo flowers ahead of time with your floral designer. Your wedding flower photos should match the theme and color plan for your wedding and the bouquet used in your wedding photos should be very similar to the bouquet you walk down the aisle with.
You will also want to add some flower arrangements to your wedding photos. Flower arrangements for wedding photos can include elaborate arrangements like floral arches to large, flower-filled urns on either side of the bride and groom to more subtle vases or baskets of flowers in the background. Don’t forget to have bouquets and boutonnieres made for the wedding party for the photos, too.
Taking Wedding Flower Photos
If you have a professional photographer taking the wedding photos, then you may think you don’t have to be concerned about how the flowers will turn out, and maybe you don’t. But when you are looking at the photographer’s portfolio, be sure and look at the wedding flower photos. Do the flowers look vibrant and alive in the photos or do they look grey and washed out, or out of focus? Talk with your photographer about the technical aspects of taking wedding photos with flowers, and how he makes adjustments so that the flowers are photographed perfectly. Also, discuss flower arrangements for wedding photos with your florist. Make sure that the florist understands how the colors and textures of flowers come out in photos. Collaboration between your florist and your photographer will equal beautiful wedding flower photos.
If You Are The Designer…
Then I have a few tips for you, too. As a floral designer and artist, I understand that what I really want when I design wedding arrangements is for everyone to say, “Wow! What beautiful flowers!” What I have to remember, and so do you, is that the bride wants everyone to say, “Wow! What a beautiful bride!” And the bride is paying you. Don’t overpower the wedding with your flowers. Wedding flowers can be beautiful and subtle at the same time. Enhance the wedding with your arrangements, don’t steal the wedding. Keep this in mind, as well, when designing flower arrangements for wedding photos.
If you didn’t think of including flower arrangements for wedding photos in your floral package, consider stopping by a silk floral design shop on the way to the photography session. This way you will be able to choose from flower arrangements for wedding photos that will look great with your gown, your décor, and to fit your personality.
