Wedding Ceremony Insurance - A Few Good Reasons Why to Get Wedding Insurance

You know everything is going to be perfect on your wedding day, so why get wedding insurance?  Wake up!  Very few weddings go off without a hitch.  We’ve all heard the horror stories.  Your friend spent $48,000 for her dream wedding only to find out that the designer made a mistake and the gown didn’t fit, and the baker dropped the cake while carrying it into the reception hall.  Sending her future mother-in-law to the bridal shop to pick up a new gown was a bad idea (she always wondered if his mom really liked her) and putting the groom on the phone to find a quickie baker resulted in wedding cupcakes.  Not to mention the additional money that had to be spent.  Are you seeing yet why to get wedding insurance?

With the right wedding insurance the extra expense would have been covered, as would the future mom-in-law’s near hospitalization after the bride had a look at the new gown.  Some wedding insurance would even have paid for a postponement of the wedding under such circumstances.  Protecting yourself from the unlimited amount of things that can happen to any great wedding is why to get wedding insurance.
The Ceremony
Wedding ceremony insurance can pay for such things as lost or damaged wedding apparel, like the bridal gown or tuxedo.  This is especially a concern for destination weddings where the apparel has to be packed away in luggage for a flight.  Most wedding ceremony insurance will also cover postponement of a wedding due to sudden illnesses or accidents that are unforeseen, or if the minister doesn’t show up to perform the ceremony.  Anything that is a significant cost for the wedding ceremony, such as flowers and a photographer/videographer, should also be covered under wedding ceremony insurance.  Even the wedding rings can be covered, but typically not the engagement ring.

The Reception
Wedding reception insurance will cover things like the clumsy baker, or even a no-show baker.  If the caterer suddenly backs out and you have to hire someone else at the last minute, this can cost a bundle, and can be covered under your wedding reception insurance.  What if you booked your reception hall a year ago and come to find out that it’s not there anymore?  Your deposit and the extra expense for finding a last minute hall can be covered.  You can even take out liability insurance with your wedding reception insurance to cover dance floor accidents, or when that friend of the groom has a little too much punch and falls on Aunt Norma breaking her collarbone.

The Honeymoon
The honeymoon travel insurance can be bundled in with the wedding insurance or it can be purchased separately.  Sitting down with your insurance agent to get wedding insurance help is the best idea.  Get the specifics on what will be covered and what will not in your wedding insurance, and if you need the travel insurance.

The Cost

One of the best reasons why to get wedding insurance is the reasonable cost of wedding insurance plans.  You can get good wedding insurance for just a couple hundred dollars to cover the basics for a small to medium sized wedding.  You can spend up to about $1,200 for great insurance to cover a large wedding.  Deductibles will almost always apply, so get wedding insurance help from your insurance agent or an agent who deals in wedding insurance (not all of them do) and weigh all of your options.  Only you can decide if you need wedding insurance, but remember your friend?  I bet she wished she’d had it.
