Introduction To Wedding Flower Arrangements

October 15, 2008

A wedding is one of the largest investments you will undertake in your life and also one of the most important.  Aside from the bride, the wedding flowers are the centerpiece of the occasion.  Wedding flowers set the tone and mood of the entire wedding.

Trends in wedding flowers come and go, and then come back again.  Trends are of little importance, however.  The theme of the wedding and matching the wedding flowers to that theme is important.  The bride being almost as in love with her wedding flowers as she is with her groom is important.  The perfect wedding flowers say “romance” and will live on in the hearts (and the photographs) of the wedding party and guests forever.

Modern Wedding Ceremony Flower Decorations for Today’s Weddings

October 13, 2008

Not all weddings are traditional white weddings anymore.  Many brides are choosing to go modern with their wedding themes.  This type of theme should also be reflected in modern wedding ceremony flower decorations.  Flower decorations can add the romance to any wedding, but they don’t have to look like Grandmother’s wedding flowers to be perfect for your modern wedding.  Learn more about modern wedding ceremony flower arrangements by checking out wedding florist’s websites or looking for wedding blogs from modern brides.  These can give you an idea of some modern wedding ceremony flower decorations that will work perfectly with the ideas you have for your wedding.

Flower Aisle Decorations for a Wedding
Flower aisle decorations for a wedding can be as simple as flower petals tossed in the aisle by a flower girl, or as elaborate as an archway with tulle drapes for the bride to walk through at the beginning of her wedding march.  Flower aisle decorations should be complimentary to the theme of the wedding in style and in color.  If the wedding theme is ‘pretty in pink’ for example, then there are going to be varying degrees of pinks throughout the wedding.  Offset all that pink with some cream colored cala lily pew arrangements with some pink rose bud accents that match the pink wedding gown.  Modern flower aisle decorations for a wedding should be achieved by using unique colors, types of flowers, and designs that set them apart from other wedding arrangements.

Wedding Flower Photos - What You Should Know About Flower Arrangements for Wedding Photos

September 5, 2008

When planning your wedding you probably won’t think to plan for flower arrangements for wedding photos. This is typically an afterthought that is often suggested by the photographer, who happens to have some tacky silk arrangements he can “throw in” for a small rental fee. Don’t let this happen to your photos.

Don’t Forget To Plan for Flower Arrangements for Wedding Photos
To avoid having to use the dusty, overused wedding flower arrangements that the photographer has shoved in a closet, plan for your wedding photo flowers ahead of time with your floral designer. Your wedding flower photos should match the theme and color plan for your wedding and the bouquet used in your wedding photos should be very similar to the bouquet you walk down the aisle with.

Wedding Flower Arches - Choosing Flower Arrangements for Wedding Arches

August 25, 2008

On your wedding day you want everything to be beautiful.  The flowers are ordered specifically for that purpose, to set the tone for romance and beauty.  In the right setting, there is nothing more stunning than a wedding arch adorned with flowers.  Flower arrangements for wedding arches don’t have to be excessive to be beautiful, but often excessive is called for, too.  The wedding arch flowers need to match the overall theme of the wedding and can be done so by adding flowers directly to the arch or by placing urns of flower arrangements to either side of the arch and even behind the wedding arch.

Types of Wedding Arches

There are several types of wedding arches to choose from, and the one you choose may depend greatly on the location of your wedding.  There are some questions you should answer before considering what type of arch to use.  Where will you place the wedding arch?  Do you want it at the beginning of the aisle for the bride to begin her wedding march, or do you want the arch at the point where the nuptials will be performed?  Will the bride and groom be standing directly beneath the arch or will it be placed behind them?  Is the wedding going to be indoors or out?  If indoors, is there a stage or platform that the wedding will take place on, and how much room is there for an arch?  These questions will not only help you to determine which type of arch to use, and how large it should be, but also how much decorating you can do with the arch. If the wedding is outdoors, you can use any type of arch.

The further from your guests the arch will be placed, the larger the arch should be.  If you will be standing beneath the arch, it should be large enough so that you are not cramped.  The material of the arch doesn’t matter either unless the couple will be close enough to the wedding arch for the wood splinters to catch the gown or the metal to stain it.  Be careful about recently painted arches for this reason, too. Wedding flower arrangements

May 1, 2008

Wedding day is one of the most important and most anticipated days in anyone’s life. It’s the day in which you are going to get your partner for life. Everybody want this one day to be as perfect as it can get and even any minor glitch can ruin the gaiety of the whole day. This is exactly the reason why you should be very diligent even when you deal with seemingly minor things. One of the most important items on a wedding planning checklist is Flower Arrangements. Flowers are something that provides beauty and levity to the environment. Flower arrangement of wedding is very important, as it has got a big role to play in the overall theme of your wedding.

There are several forms of floral arrangement in a wedding arena like the bridal bouquet, headdresses and other floral accessories and decorations. All these take truly much more than any amateur can handle. So before you place yourself as the florist of your own wedding or before you allow your less experienced friend to try his luck on this one you should think about the damage it can do to your wedding. So trusting this job to a professional makes perfect sense because experience is of the essence here. A professional florist is always a very good choice not only because he is experienced but also he can tone and arrange flowers in such a way that it will look most suitable to the wedding arena.

The floral arrangement of the wedding should suit the wedding arena, wedding theme and dresses. Flowers of unsuitable colors and sizes should be avoided. The flower arrangement for wedding days can contain favorite flower varieties of the bride and groom as well. It will be suitable if you pick flowers that match the other decorations in the arena. If you are planning a lawn wedding, yellow and blue colored flowers will be more suitable as it will look more contrasted and beautiful against the green color of the lawn.

Availability of the flower is a limiting factor to the number of choices. Most flowers are seasonal and will only be available on that particular season and even if some flowers are available off-season, it will cost a bomb. So if your heart is set on any particular kind of flower that you love, make sure you plan your wedding according to the season of that particular flower. This will also save you money, as any flower will be holding the lightest price tag in its peak season. Tulips and amaryllis are suitable for winter and for spring flowers like hyacinth, muscari etc will do well. And if you are going to have a summer wedding you should look for flowers like peony, phlox, sweet William, fox tail etc. And if you are there in the fall, vibrantly colored flowers like achillea, dahlia, hypericum, zinnia, Chinese aster etc are good choices.

If you are not crazy about any particular variety of flowers, it is good to go for an all-season flower. Going for an all-season flower has several advantages like it will be easily available in any season, and also you will get it for cheaper rates without much bargaining. If you want to go this way, there are several varieties to go for. You can find them in different colors and sizes. Some of the most popular all-season flowers are ginger lily, anthurium, bouvardia, cymbidium, oncidium, phaelanopsis, dendrobium, several types of orchids, gloriosa, heliconia, banksia, bird of paradise etc.

Keeping the flowers fresh is important. If the atmosphere is too hot, spraying water will help them to remain fresh for few more hours. And also care should be taken while handling the flower so that you can avoid damage to the flowers. Try to remove damaged and deformed flowers if any from the decoration. And if you are short of flower, arrangement for wedding ceremonies can be used at the reception as well. And finally the wedding flower decoration is all about creativity. Whether done by a professional or a novice, the flowers shouldn’t steal the show from the bride and shouldn’t create a distraction from the main event. So the arrangement should be done cleverly and in such a way that the flowers assist the wedding perfectly without creating a distraction.
